A story in my head begins to play out.

Welcome, again, my very old friend.

It’s time, I see, for this game to begin.

You see, this is it, the end of the road

For you to be judged, you backstabbing tool

Who colored me a fool and tore me to pieces.

Who focused more on the creases of his shirts

than the hurts or the pain that you made in our world.

But you see, I am in a merciful mood.

Lets play a quick game, 20 questions if you will.

not eleven nor ten, but 20 is right

for us to see what you have done with your life.

And maybe, just maybe, if your luck is in right,

You might find salvation tonight.

An Angolan government soldier stands guard at a roadblock that is marked with a human skull. After Angola gained independence from Portugal in 1975, civil war erupted between the ruling party, the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), and the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA). The 27-year civil war killed half a million people and displaced another four million before a cease-fire was declared in April of 2002. © Louise Gubb

Minutes later, these G.I. Joes dashed through the surf and up the beach under the withering fire of Nazi defenders. These Coast Guard barges rode back and forth through D Day bringing wave on wave of reinforcements to the beachhead. June 6, 1944. © Bettmann
